Hertfordshire Family History

This section of our website is dedicated to Herts Family History Resources and we hope it is useful to Family Historians and Genealogists researching people who lived in Hertfordshire in the past.  We’ll be displaying information on local Family History Groups in Hertfordshire together with Birth, Marriage and Death Certificate information and links to Herts Parish Registers.

Herts County Council have a useful Hertfordshire Family History search facility.  This displays information held by them and you can enter a name to see if any records are held for the person you are searching for.  The records include, Apprentices, Crime & Punishment, Fatalities, Marriage Licences, Newspaper Archives, Newspaper Pictures, Non Conformist Registers, The Poor, Tithe Awards, Wills.  Copies of the results can be ordered for £10 each item or they can be viewed for free at County Hall at Hertford at the Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies Department. Hertfordshire Family History Society are an active society with meetings most months on a variety of interesting subjects. Most of these meetings take place at Woolmer Green Village Hall.  Membership fees are very reasonable and a quarterly journal is distributed to members.
